   the long beard's birthday was June 1, 1981. The day my son was born I shaved so my wife could see just how much damage we did to the gene pool. She had never seen me with out a beard. She told me to grow it back. Might have had something to do with me trying to sand off one of her freckles with my chin.
   
   Then last spring I got a new job and decided to go with a new look too. My 23 yr old daughter is still in shock. She grew up with a bearded and long haired dad. Kept me warm while I was living in a tipi just after I graduated from college at 49 and taught for one semeseter.
   
   Now I'm working on a civil war general kind of look.

   True enough. It also keeps your neck warm in the winter and in the shade all summer.
   Where I live it can get down to -30 for a week at a time and any layer helps.

    worked for me for a long time. I was a scoutmaster and the boys would tell me stuff and talk to me as another human about stuff they wouldn't tell any other adult.
    At camp I was known as Father Thyme because I spice things up. That and I'll do most anything to get a laugh from people.

    When I was young my dad was the scoutmaster. I went in for the outdoors skills and camping and never worried about the ranks. Now I work outside all summer running a park for people with disabilties. check it out at http://www.johndillonpark.org
    This will be our second summer. Last year we were still under construction but were open for most things

    The adirondacks are a 6 million acre Forever Wild State Park. My park is smack dab in the middle. You can't get farther away from a city then there.
    Totally off the grid. Solar electric, cell phones
