  1. Not like the worst/best movie thread, this one is for general reviews of movies as you see them. Rating out of 5 stars, and give what was good or bad about the film.
Also, put sad faces depending on how sad it was, 8-O faces for if it was scary, and :x if it was crap.
    Yay for movie reviews!

I just saw The Scarlet Letter for the first time, and only because Gary Oldman's in it. Yes, I have a weird obsession with him.
And it was AWESOME that he had an Irish accent in this movie. I thought it was really cute. Aww. :)
There was frontal Oldman nudity though, which was scary even for me.

Basically it's a time piece, set during the settlement of America, and it'sa Romeo and Juliet sort of jobby.
Demi Moore's in a bad marriage, she meets Gary Oldman. Sparks fly, but because she is married they can't act on it. Then she hears her husband has died so her and Gary do the diggity and chaos ensues.
Yeah. I thought it was pretty good, though I'm not really into chick flicky movies, and I'm certainly not into Demi Moore. There was lots of lovey dovey crap, but also woman power and a little bit of blood near the end. Yay for blood!

Also stars Robert Duvall, who plays a smacked-off-his-face-white-boy-who-thinks-he's-an-Indian.
    No more drugs for Duvall.
    Rating: :) :) :) smileys

  2. This is a made for SciFi channel sequel and is just about what you'd expect. Crap
Oh sure its got the manditory beautiful women Fish & Wildlife Ranger stripping down to panties and bra to jump in the crockadile infested lake and lots of arms, legs and heads getting bitten off going for it. But the computer generated crocks look cartoonish. The big game hunter is a sterotypical rich guy.
Even Cloris Leachmen, playing the crazy sister of Betty White's character from the first movie, can't save this dog.

The only real good thing going for it is that it was on the SciFi channel and didn't cost me anything. I watched it because it was the best choice that night.
    I give it :x :x :x three crappy heads

  3. Hahahahahahahahaha <3

I got one that I saw last night.
Cruel Intentions 2. Oh yes, one of the worst wastes of movie EVER to disgrace the big screen.
None of the same actors as the first movie, but the two main characters were the same (I FUCKING HATE MOVIES THAT DO THAT - If you can't get the actors back, don't even fucking try. GOD!)
So desperate to have some sort of connection to its parent movie that it decided on being a prequel (since one of the main characters died in the first movie), however, it completely contradicted everything that had been spoken of in the first movie. In the beginning of the first movie, Sebastian was a conceited, stuck up playa playa, who had never loved a woman (though had "loved" many). In the prequel, he was a sensitive new age guy with a great heart who fell in love with a highschool sweetheart. Guess what? In the first movie he fell in love with the new headmasters daughter. In the second, who does he fall for? The fucking headmasters daughter.
Classic shitty sequel style, it repeats like half the lines of the first movie (the least funny ones). The four main characters are actually the same. The bitch Katherine, the rich boy Sebastian, the Christian do-gooder who loses her virginity to him, and the ditzy bitch who also gets a little Sebastian action.

Such a pathetic movie that it relies on horse-fucking, threesomes, and incest to get the boys up. About as good as soft-core porn - a shit storyline and not even anything decent to get your mind off it.

    :x :x }:-@ :'( :-?
Two angries, an evil, a cry for wasting 2 hours of my fucking life, and a "WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON?!"

  4. To Die Another Day or any Bond movie with Pierce Brosnean

The thing that made the Bond movie franchis great was Sean Connery made it look like he was having fun. There was that wry grin when uttering the unforgetable lines. Turned the women on no end and the guys loved his gadgets and that he could get any girl into bed

Brosnan just doesn't look like he's having fun. Job, it's just a job.
Halle Berry is just a diversion for Bond in this movie.

    8) 8) cuz it is James Bond with a cool invisible car
    :? :? cuz he isn't having fun
;-) :-? cuz I'd spend more time with Ms Berry

  5. I adore Halle and hate Pierce as well.

Sean Connery was the ONLY bond as far as I'm concerned.
    Bloody legend.

  6. Wow, I just watched Cruel Intentions 3.
It almost completely redeems the second movie.
Again, different actors, but this time at least they were good. Kerr Smith (Hottie), Kristina Anapau (freakin gorgeous), and Nathan Wetherington.

Nathan was freaking AWESOME. There was about a thousand plot twists, but he goes through many character changes, all in one smooth ride (I would say more, but I don't want to wreck it). He's earned himself as place among my respected actors list (yes, I have a list. Pathetic, I know).
Kristina was awesome at being a total bitch. She's hot as hell and a pretty good actress. Spends a lot of the movie in ... comfortable clothes, which is more for the boys than anything, but isn't unnecessary.
Kerr, although my favourite person in the movie, didn't do as well as the other two, which had more to do with his character than anything. He was very good, but the other two kinda stole the movie.

It is very "sequel", but it's also a really good stand-alone movie, since it only references the first movie (characters) in the beginning, and the storyline is very different. The feel of the movie, however, is very sequel.
You'll know what I mean if you watch it, which I do reccommend. It's worth the couple of bucks rental.

    :D :D :D (for the actors)
    ;) ;) ;) (plot twists and naughtiness)
    :O (nudity)

  7. Here's one that isn't out yet but I can't wait to see
    Sophomore
    http://www.sophomoremovie.com/

Why do I anticapate this being fun to see you may ask?
The actress third from the left, Lucille is my niece.
This will be her second indi film in a year. The other comes out this summer and is a very local project.

After reading up on the plot I'm sure it will be one of those stupid movies that we all love once in a while.
I'll post a review when it comes out and I see it.

  8. Here's a few stoke sketch.

Not as good as 1, a very far cry from 2, and suffers from the pre-Nolan BATMAN problem of too many villains. 2's Doc Ock was one of the best viallins of all time, because he wasn't a flat villain.

What's frustrating here is Spider-Man 3 could have been really great. Sandman is cool. Venom is cool. Even Gobby Jr. is cool. But none of them got the due they deserved, and the movie is just a big, jumbled mess. Raimi has said Avi Arad (head of Marvel Prodctions at the time) essentially ordered him put Venom in when he had the Sandman story ready to go. the upshot is, all the cool character moments we've learned to expect from this series aren't there for Sandman and Venom, and the movie the stumbles to an end.

Really sad. This movie is not awful, it's just not nearly as good as it could have been.

6 out of 10 for me.

P.S. Damnit I wish I had time to do movie reviews again.

That's not the first mediocre review I've heard for Spiderman 3.
Apparently it was a big disappointment. A shame, really. They could have done a lot with it.

  12. Just went to see National Treasure 2

About as good as the first movie. They saved time for action by not having to develope most of the characters. The villian sort of waffled between being good and evil so he never really jelled for me. Some of the things you see in the previews are not in the movie and some shots are different but all in all I had fun watching it and will buy a copy when it's in the pre-viewed video bin.

I don't pay full price for any video as none have been worth $20. It's hard enough to pay that much for my wife and I to see one in the theater.

of course you ddint see all the scens on the movie that you did in the traller

how else do you think they can rase the price 5$ to buy a copy they add another disk with the ''deleted scens '' or sometimes they even put it all on 1  disk and still charge 5$ more

    muhahahahahaha

  14. I think the scence that were different were shot and then in the edit process they were dropped for others. One that shows up in the previews is an overhead shot of Mt Rushmore that shows a hidden door behind the heads. This isn't in the movie but without giving anything away, let's just say an alternate shot was used.

I only buy from the pre-viewed bin and try to hit the buy 2 get 2 sales. So I spend $30 for 4 movies. good deal for me

  23. I too saw the Sarah Connor Cronicles. Three episodes so far and the flavor of the original movies is there. Not the cheese of Rise of the Machines.

The original movie had a lot of narative from Sara at the end to fill in the blanks. So the show uses the same thing for that reason. I like the way the terminator is able to follow them through to the "future"

Not going to say more so as not to spoil things

  24. On another topic (so it's not a double post) I saw No Country for Old Men last weekend. This is a film that if you are disturbed by blood, gore and death don't go. The only thing I'll say in warning is that if you like your movies with no loose ends to tie up this one is not for you.

Beyond here there may be spoilers

The film follows three story threads that intertwine. A killer, a sheriff and a hunter that finds a lot of money. The shoot up scenes are first rate in believablity. This is no glamorization of gun play. If it can't happen the Coen brothers didn't film it. Very well done as I'd expect from the Coens and will get a few awards this year I'm sure.

  26. Just got back from seeing Juno. If you haven't heard of it the movie is about a 16 yr. old that is pregant and how she deals with it.

The dialog is wacky and interesting. Full of interesting references to movies and music. It's one of those movies that could be sappy but somehow avoids it. Fantastic movie.

  28. I saw the ad for that when we went to see Sweeney Todd, it looks like the worst piece of shit ever made.

I can't fucking wait to see Run Fatboy Run. Simon Pegg is my ugly little british hero.

Oh, and Sweeney Todd was spectacular. That's all I can say without thinking about it too hard and wetting myself.
