  1. I'm a movie buff.

I'll edit in my list later (I don't really have time now), but basically this topic is to list your top 10 favourites, and top ten least favourite movies. (1 being the best or worst, 10 being the other)
Movies can be judged on how funny they are, how dramatic, the script, the plot, the cleverness (was it predictable?), the actors, and a range of any other things you like. I'm just throwing ideas out there.

Alternatively, you could set out the list differently: Favourite comedy, drama, romance, horror, thriller, etc.

    Whatever. Ok, go. :)

  3. ... Back in 1999, I was curious why I liked some movies and not others. So I ranked not just my top 10 movies... but every single movie I'd ever seen that I could remember. It was something like 1900 movies (then).

The upshot is I don't even really have to think about this. I just need to add the newer movies since 1999. Christ I'm a nerd.

    Anyway...

    My top 10 favorite movies:

    1. The Godfather Trilogy (Yes, with Part III)!
    2. The Lord of the Rings Trilogy
    3. Casablanca
    4. Lawrence of Arabia (Steven Spielberg's favorite movie, by the way)
    5. Raiders of the Lost Ark (Greatest action movie ever made)
    6. Mr. Smith Goes to Washington
    7. Forrest Gump (Not going to defend it, I just like it, so piss off. I not defensive! You are!)
    8. Toy Story
    9. The Right Stuff
    10. Fight Club

My bottom 10 least favorite movies:
    10. Demolition Man
    9. Speed 2: Cruise Control
    8. Hot Chick
    7. Cabin Boy
    6. Breakfast of Champions
    5. Problem Child
    4. Superstar
    3. Kids
    2. Duce Bigalow: Male Gigalow (Rob Schneider is the worst thing to happen to movies since... I'll get back to you. I mean, there's gotta be something worse than him, right? Just can't think of it right now...)
    1. Batman and Robin (the awfulness of this movie offends me almost as much as the Holocaust. Almost).

They did. Maybe some day I'll tell the story about watching STAR WARS EPISODE I: THE PHANTOM MENACE a week before hand, then having to cover all the fans in line at Mann's Chinese Theater in Hollywood for the website I was writing for back then. It was awful seeing all those fans so eager to see a movie I knew SUCKED so much.

    <sob> I'm sorry, I... I can't talk about it right now...

    What's so odd?

Only because the movie genres don't really go together. It's just interesting.

    I like him too.
And I own Forrest and Cast Away, but I don't like him so much these days. He seems like he's probably an asshole.

  23. Amagad. When A Stranger Calls = Worst movie evar.

I was actually angry at the end. I wanted my hour and a half back. It was seriously an hour and 20 minutes of a girl being creeped out by a stranger calling her, and then the police call and give that all-too famous line "Miss, the call is coming from INSIDE THE HOUSE!" And then she's all like "Noooo!"
And the last 10 minutes is her running away.

BIGGEST WASTE OF TIME. It was crap to start with, but then I hung with it anyway, hoping it would get better, then when it didn't I was like "Well, a movie this crap HAS to have a good ending..." And then when I heard that line I was like | | this fucking close to shooting myself in the ears with my deodorant. I was like "Oh no you di'nt."

    And then I died.

    3 Firefly / Serenity

Amagad, High five! I'm so in love with that show and everybody on it. Between the 6 in my family, we have three copies of the box set.

And most of the actors are on my calendar. That's how sad I am. :P

  25. To Die For w/ Nicole Kidman
All the critics loved this movie. "Best ever by Nicole" "Must see"
What a load of crap. It was the worst movie with the worst acting I've ever seen.

I went to a matinee to see this one and when it was over the 10 people in the theater all stood up and looked at each other and said WTF. I started telling everyone I met that if they snuck into this movie they'd ask for their money back.

Maybe I missed the point that she's such a great actor that she can act being a bad actor so well that she's good. But no that can't be it.
I've liked her in many of her movies but this one was a stinker

  28. My family has a Thanksgiving Day traditon of watching Streets of Fire
Nothing to do with the holiday just got watching it a few years in a row and now we watch every year. In fact two years ago my daughter bought 3 copies of the DVD to replace the worn out VHS tape. One for her, one for me and one for her brother in Utah. turns out he alread had one. So even though we live thousands of miles apart we still all watch the same movie on Thanksgiving.
The soundtrack alone is worth watching the movie. Ry Cooder can play

Another Ry Cooder soundtrack movie worth watching is Crossroads with Ralph Macchio. The plot is a thin rehash of an old tail but, and this is a big but, you have to watch the whole movie for the epic guitar battle at the end to be realy felt. Just can't sit still during that part.
