well what i do is i take shrimp i use only th best but any other will do

i fry them up in butter in a frying pan then i make a sause to put over top, i take 1 1/2 bottles of pc's seafood sauce and

and about 4 ounces of southern comfort and mix it in a bowl with the shrimp then put in in a crock pot and let it cook on low all day

its 4 ounces of whiskey per 1 1/2 bottle of sauce and i use 1 ring of shrimp

this will make enough to feed 1 person

Hey let's talk food again.

In particular Comfort Food. When you don't feel well what kind of food makes it all better? Something Mom cooked or a dish you discovered later?

For me I cook up a nice batch of raw fried potatoes and onions. Slice the taters thin and the onion into slim wedges. Saute in a lot of butter. I start with a 1/4 pound and add more if needed. Cook in a nice cast iron fry pan over medium heat. A cover on the pan helps keep the heat in and get the taters partailly cooked. Then off with the lid and keep turning them until there's a nice crunchy crust. You can add garlic if you want near the middle of the cooking (I do) and put on a generous amount of cayan pepper for flavor.

This is a good side or you can add in some sausages or hamburg or corned beef to make a one pan meal. Yum

Any other ideas?

You're right about why I don't get sick. When I grew up we didn't worry about germs. If we dropped an MM in the dirt we picked it up, blew the germs off and ate the damn thing.
My kids are the same way. We made them go out and play. They didn't have a Nintendo until they were in high school.

steveoutdoorrec Escribió:

question you where living in a t.p. , what did you do soooo wrong to diserve that kind of punishment ?

I never did answer this, sorry

It wasn't punishment it was fun.

When I graduated college, at the tender age of 49, I was asked to stay on a semester and help teach Introduction to Forestry. That job only paid $3000 for the 15 week semester and I didn't want to blow most of it on rent. So I bought a tipi, cut and shaved my own poles and set it up on a free state campsite for the semester.

Had a ball. It was quiet so I read a lot, experimented with cooking and just enjoyed living and working outdoors. Sure it got down to -21 F one night but I never noticed as I have a good army surplus artic sleeping bag that was made in December 1952. I was born in January 1953 so we are the same age and both still work.

I did have a fire ring in the center but only used it a couple of times. Only had pine to burn and the knots pop out of the fire when you burn it so I didn't want to leave it unwatched for fear of burning down my house. But I did have a propane radient heater that gave off enough heat that I could sit in my bag one a cold night and be exposed from the waist up in comfort.

My bathroom was a box over a hole in the ground. That was fun when it was below 0 F. Didn't bother me because by then I was used to the weather.

One thing is that I never had a cold or was sick in any way that whole time. I think we get colds more when we rely on heated housing. In fact any colds I've gotten in the 5 years since have been short lived.

well i guess that's not that bad , those army artic sleeping bags are awsome , i have one ( only like 2 years old though and you couldent cut it open with a katana and the heat you give off gose up and gets caught in the insulation so it will stay in the sleeping bag. no matter how cold it is out your still warm. Thats too bad you couldent find any good burning wood though , that would have made it alot better! -21 in a tipi , that must have been fun lol so what knid of experiments did you , mmmmmmmmmmmmmh failing students mmmmmmmmh!
still though even with the training i have i would have brought a tent ect.........

and , the reason you dident get a cold and still dont is because now in modern day people are all germ freaks they sanatise everything! so when they do interact with germs their immune system is in such shock that it doesent know what to do , take a farm kid form cold lake and put him out in the bush with a yuppie x-box playing soccer kid from a liberal family the farm kid woulden't get sick but the other kid whose had his whole life sanitized so he wouldent get sick woud be breaking down in sickness!

the tender age of 49 X-D X-D

first off im sorry for doubble posting but i though it would look stupied if i added this in with my last post , as some of you know im in Afghanistan serving my country right now and i got to tell you about the food we get

they are called mre's ( meals ready eat)

they consist of 2 packs of eather mashed potatos vegy burger in unidentified red stuff burger is a brick of soy by the way theres also chicken fahighta filler hash browns and bacon and well lots more a mre also comes with 2 freez dryed snacks ( wheat bread patty , oatmeat cookie , fudge brownie , crackers) im lucky i only had to eat this crap once ( its the officers mess for me :) ) this food has a 55% fat content witch means 55% of whats in the pack is pure fat and it tasts like the packet its made in also it has a shelf life of 35 years but if you eat it 35 years and 1 day after its garenteed to cause colin cancer , its illeagle to sell them after they are 25 years old but if your very desprat i guess youd eat 30year old shit. its very discusting , its also made in texas and the stuff i ate was 15 years old!!! so now kyou know what your fighting men and women in seas have to put up with for food.
If you want a great sauce or pasta try cutting up peppers (green, red or what have you), onions, zuccini, and a plum tomatoe and slowly saute them. Plum tomatoes are best because there is less water and more flesh. Season to taste with oregino, basil, garlic and just a dash of hot sauce to bring out the flavors. Pour over the pasta of your choice and eat up. Yum

Takes just about as long to do as heating up a store bought sauce and is so much better.
Butter chicken, mild curries, etc are my favourite indian foods. I can't think of the other one - beef something or other.

Chinese food: Sweet and sour chicken, and some others. Haven't had it in a while, I forget these things.
